Felix Mbuya
Felix is the visionary behind GFN. Following his High School education, Felix gained diplomas in Hotel Management and a Certificate in Social Work from The University of Zambia. He has previously worked with Rainbow Trust in Livingstone and then ran his own very successful catering business in Lusaka. Felix is married to Eugenia, who works with health care projects in refugee camps in NW Zambia and they are now based in Solwezi.
Felix always had a vision to serve the needs of children who had lost their parents, and also the elderly who had lost the support of their natural children. In May 2012 he contacted Mel & JeanAnn, knowing their interest and asked them to investigate his plans. He now serves as a founding Trustee and CEO of Global Family Network in Zambia.

- The country’s future is in the hands of its children. The children’s future is in the family’s hands.
Before retirement, JeanAnn worked as a Senior Lecturer in Education at Bradford College. In 2000 she took time out to serve in a voluntary capacity as Education Advisor and Acting Principal at King’s Primary School in Livingstone. She continued this part-time involvement over the following three years developing in-service training to staff and promoting pre-school education in a rural setting. Having worked closely with Felix in Southern Zambia, she knew of his strength of character and faithfulness and had no hesitation in supporting this new venture.
Mel previously worked as a science teacher and IT lecturer in York. His late wife – also a ‘Jeanie’ had a great interest in Africa, and two of their children had visited Zambia on voluntary projects. He and Jeanie had closely followed JeanAnn’s projects in Zambia. Donations made following Jeanie’s funeral enabled the development of a new wing to the local health center in Livingstone.
Mel & JeanAnn subsequently married, clebrating their wedding both in Leeds and Zambia. This is the first opening that they both see as a real opportunity to work together to make a difference in the lives of needy but very deserving people. They now run the UK branch of the charity, raising funds, seeking practical support and networking with other organisations.
